In addition to launching its new name and new identity, Incompas also showed off a new version of its twice-annual event, still known for now as Comptel Plus.
Two of its biggest new members, Netflix Inc. (Nasdaq: NFLX) and Google (Nasdaq: GOOG), stepped up as major sponsors and treated the crowd quite well. Netflix sponsored a Wine Walk on the opening night of the expo floor and Google held a closing party on Tuesday night at a nearby venue. Sadly, that night, I was watching the Cubs lose their third straight game in the National League Championship Series and missed the party, but my trusty iPhone camera caught most of what happened earlier in the week.
True to its new mission of being an advocate for competition and innovation in the Internet space, Incompas not only included the traditional aspects of Comptel Plus, such as its deal center and sessions on regulation and competition, but also tackled new topics such as the changing video content scene, as well as the growing importance of data center connectivity and the cloud.
