Re: Packing the servers
On live streaming of the events would probably  be pretty ueeful and especially if they are archived for later viewing since I would guess most people would view at a later time. I would guess there might be issues involved for getting permission from the speakers and associated companies that may or may not be comfortable with putting it out live to a wider audience.

@Alison: If you do livestream from a conference, can we play a version of Carol Wilson's Buzzword Bingo?  (link)

Re: Packing the servers
Thanks, Brian, for a terrific suggestion. Let me pass that along to my colleagues and partners and see if it's something we can work on for a future Live Demo. I like the idea!

Re: Packing the servers
"A collection of logos" certainly confirms what many of us have experienced when trying to integrate supposedly compatible products. In my experience, to actually achieve sucessful integration, it has had to be written into the contracts. That can be very hard to accomplish if using existing technology. The last vendor to sign on is the one left trying to forge the relationship and write custom platforms to integrate. The pictures are an informative (and fun) glimpse behind the scenes. Any possibility of live-streaming a similar event in the future?

Re: Packing the servers
The demos, performed by New IP Agency partner EANTC and the participating NIA members, proved products' interoperability in a virtualized environment. While many vendors have interoperability initiatives, it's really challenging for service providers and their customers to truly know what does (and doesn't) work well together in a real world situation. Although some vendor programs are well designed and really do put products to the test, others are simply a collection of logos, one vendor executive told me, asking me not to use their name or company. With so much riding on their virtualization investment, service providers typically spend a lot of resources testing -- something that NAI hopes to eliminate the need for, at least for many situations.

Re: Packing the servers
Live demos are way better than just talk. Although a lot of times are there is seems to be talking, I think with a movement towards open source that is changing. This is good, as a demo is better than the pizzaz a presentation is supposed to bring.

kq4ym, the pigeon made me think that it was in the right place since pigeons were used for communications at some point in earlier times. Maybe the pigeon went to check in for an update. :) -Susan

Re: Packing the servers
It looks like the live demos were a huge success with the standing room crowds of folks attending. And the "roadies" certainly had their work cut out for them setting up and packing up all the miles of wires and servver equipment. Even the pidgeon seemed attracted to the activity!

Packing the servers
I always find it very interesting when at the end of the show everything goes back to the boxes, containers, etc. Having a closer look at how they pack the servers is a great opportunity to look deeply into them. I nice experience, indeed. Did you have the chance to take a closer look, and maybe some pictures? -Susan
