Re: Action
You are absolutely right dcawrey.

Actually, a new McKinsey study shows that 30% of CSPs have already made Big Data investments.

Historically CSPs have been focused on the infrastructure set-ups. The commercial maturity has only been reached recently. This brought a trend of investments in technologies as Big Data to be more efficient in business management and quicker in decision making.

Re: Action
Although "Telcos now can store data for long periods," I wonder if our natural human tendency to disregard older data that may take away from the benefits of analyzing that data in preference to newer data? Perhaps a perfect solution is automatic data analyzation and testing using that old stored data.

Virtualization, big data, and automation
Bora, thanks for this. Also, automation gives service providers speed and agility in the business. Automating the most frequently requested activities, and the most common processes give telcos the chance to use their data team more efficiently, instead of wasting their talent in routinely data processes. Automation combines with a strong data analytics action plan can extract value faster giving accionable information when best is needed, contributing to a smarter profit. -Susan

Good to see that telcos can take all this data and turn it into actionable data.

I think it's been hard for some of these companies to actually be able to turn this stuff into something useful. It seems that now there are more opportunities from a revenue standpoint for data to be a real difference maker.
