Brocade CTO Mobile Networking shares his perspective on where NFV has been, where it is now, and where it is going.
Brocade's CTO of Mobile Networks outlines what he sees as the largest business, technology and operational challenges for mobile operators.
Brocade's CTO reflects back on this year's Mobile World Congress and the noticeable themes both present and absent, including technology, business drivers and use-cases.
According to Maravedis Research, the mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) landscape will soon be dominated by new organizations as cable providers or multiple-system operators (MSOs), over-the-tops (OTTs), device manufacturers and retailers offer their own MVN.
MNOs have long relied on services in the mobile SGi-LAN to optimize network traffic and manage network bandwidth, but the historical deployment model of network appliances in the SGi-LAN carried with it expensive capex and opex. Today, SDN and NFV can alleviate that expense.
